Vietnam’s Hog Prices Increased Amid Rising Demand

HANOI, Jul 14 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam’s hog prices have risen in the past two weeks, amid increasing demand, it was reported yesterday.

The prices of live pigs peaked at 70,000 Vietnamese dongs (three U.S. dollars) per kg yesterday, in northern Vietnam, while those in central and southern regions, ranged from 54,000 to 65,000 Vietnamese dongs (2.3 to 3.8 U.S. dollars).

The rising hog prices showed that, the domestic demand for pork went up, thanks to the recovery of restaurants and hotels, as COVID-19 has been brought under control, an official with the department of livestock production, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said.

Noting that the demand would even increase further in year-end months, the official said, Vietnam can ensure a sufficient supply for the rest of the year.

The department will direct relevant authorities to reach the target of producing 6.95 million tonnes of pork by the end of this year, the official said.– NNN-VNA
