KOGI (Nigeria), June 12 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Gunmen have again abducted the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Always Petroleum and Energy Service Limited, Alhaji Mohammed Jamiu.
Recall that gunmen had in 2019 abducted the oil magnate from one of his petrol stations, but he was rescued by the military. It was gathered that the military lost one of their officers during the rescue mission and killed one of the kidnappers.
This time around, Jamiu was abducted on Saturday at his residence in Idare Quarters, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to reports, he had just returned from the Eid praying ground in Okene at about noon when gunmen stormed his residence and took him away.
The spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, Williams Ayah, confirmed the incident.
Ayah said the police had deployed personnel to ensure his quick release.
An eye witness claimed the kidnappers, numbering about four, entered the house posing as business associates shortly after the CEO returned from Eid prayers.
The witness said the kidnappers dragged Mohammed Jamiu out of his residence and whisked him away in his car.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Kogi State Police Command, Williams Ayah assured that plans are underway to rescue the victim.
According to reports, in 2019, Mohammed Jamiu was abducted at one of his fuel stations in Okene. It took the military officials to rescue him after a few days in captivity. — NNN-AGENCIES
