Brazil Forecasted 2021-2022 Grain Output At 272.5 Million Tonnes

BRASILIA, Jul 10 (NNN-CMA) – Brazil forecasted a grain output of 272.5 million tonnes for the 2021-2022 agricultural season, with favourable weather conditions expected, for the second harvest.

The figure represents a 6.7 percent increase over the previous season, state-run National Supply Company announced.

Cultivated area is expected to increase by four million hectares compared to the 2020-2021 season, the report said.

Soybean, Brazilian agriculture’s main export product, is estimated to yield 124 million tonnes, down by 10.2 percent from last season, due to weather conditions.

Total corn harvest is forecast to reach 115.6 million tonnes, up 32.8 percent. Corn’s second harvest alone is estimated to increase by 45.6 percent, to reach 88.4 million tonnes, possibly the largest second harvest yield on record.

Sorghum, driven by corn growth, is on track to see a record output of more than three million tonnes.

Among winter crops, wheat production is also estimated to log a record nine million tonnes.– NNN-CMA
