NEW DELHI, Jul 9 (NNN-PTI) – India recorded 18,840 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 43,604,394, showed data released by the federal health ministry, today.
A total of 454,778 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours, said the ministry.
Another 43 new deaths from the pandemic were reported since yesterday morning, bringing the death toll to 525,346.
Amid a surge in COVID-19 infections, the number of active cases has been on the rise consistently over the past several weeks in the country.
Last week the figure crossed the 100,000-mark for the first time in about four months.
The latest daily positivity rate stood at 4.14 percent, and weekly positivity rate was 4.09 percent, according to the health ministry.
So far 42,953,980 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals in India, including 16,104 newly reported recoveries.– NNN-PTI
