DHAKA, Jun 28 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh reported over 2,000 new COVID-19 cases, marking the highest daily toll of new infections in four months.
It marks the first time that the cases have surpassed the 2,000 mark since Feb.
Bangladesh yesterday recorded two COVID-19 deaths, with the daily test positivity rate jumping to 15.20 percent in the 24 hours, till 8:00 a.m. local time.
To date, Bangladesh has recorded 1,967,274 cases, including 2,101 new patients yesterday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said.
The death toll reported by the DGHS rose by two, yesterday, to 29,142.
The official data showed that 13,820 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The total number of recovered patients stood at 1,906,867, including 179 new recoveries yesterday, said the DGHS.
According to official data, the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.48 percent, and the current recovery rate is 96.93 percent.
After a respite of several months, Bangladesh is again seeing a surge in fresh COVID-19 cases.
Bangladesh recorded the highest daily new cases of 16,230 on Jul 28, 2021, and the highest number of deaths of 264, twice on Aug 5 and 10, last year.– NNN-BSS
