Security Forces Seize 48 Assault Rifles In E. Afghanistan

KABUL, Jun 17 (NNN-ANA) – Afghan security forces, seized 48 assault rifles, including AK-47, in the eastern Nangarhar province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported, yesterday.

In the operation, security personnel also discovered a large quantity of other weapons and ammunition, including anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, the report said.

In another development, security forces seized a cache of arms and ammunition, including U.S.-made M16 rifles, in the neighbouring Paktia province, according to a statement by the province’s information and culture department, released yesterday.

Afghanistan’s Taliban-run administration vowed to recover weapons from individuals, as part of an effort to ensure law and order in the country.– NNN-ANA
