BEIRUT, Jun 4 (NNN-NNA) – The Council of Arab Ministers for Social Affairs (CAMSA), yesterday agreed to set up an action plan, with a specific timetable, to assist Lebanon tiding through the current socio-economic crisis, said the Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs, Hector Hajjar.
“All concerned parties from the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs, councils, committees, unions, in addition to the ministers of Arab affairs and their representatives, will participate in the implementation of this plan,” Hajjar said.
His remarks came, after Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, met with a CAMSA delegation at Baabda Palace, during which the president said, his country, under tough circumstances, needs assistance from brotherly Arab countries.
“The country’s crises were further exacerbated by the war on Syria, which has closed all our land borders to the Arab countries, in addition to the massive Syrian displacement, leading to an increase in our population density, accelerating the impoverishment of our country,” Aoun said.
Lebanon has been going through an unprecedented financial crisis, plunging over 74 percent of the population into poverty.– NNN-NNA
