BUENOS AIRES, April 2 (NNN-Xinhua) — Argentine President Mauricio Macri will seek re-election in the presidential election in October, said Rogelio Frigerio, minister of the interior, public works and housing.
”Presidential candidate of the Cambiemos is President Mauricio Macri, who is going to go for re-election,” Frigerio said during a Monday press conference.
Cambiemos is an Argentine center-right political coalition created in 2015.
On March 27, Macri said that he would seek re-election. The upcoming general elections will be held on Oct. 27.
During an interview with the America TV, Macri said that carrying the country forward is “a difficult job” and he would seek re-election for a new mandate.
“A journey is beginning, how can I say I’m tired? It is a responsibility with the people who bet on change,” Macri said.
