ANKARA, April 2 (NNN-TELESUR) — Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu reiterated his country’s support for the democratically elected Presiden Nicolas Maduro and the Venezuelan people.

“Turkey will continue to support Venezuela, as problems there could affect all of Latin America and even the Caribbean,” Cavusoglu said in a joint news conference alongside his Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Arreaza during a diplomatic visit to Ankara.

The Turkish Minister emphasized that Turkey is “against any foreign intervention aiming to change legitimate governments, undemocratic methods, and unilateral sanctions”, adding that his country “recognizes Maduro’s administration as the legitimate government of Venezuela under the principle of non-interference in states’ internal affairs and respect for the people’s will.”

Arreaza, on his part, said that Venezuela supported Turkey during troublesome times, and now the same is happening the other way around. Both foreign ministers agreed that the relations between countries will deepen and won’t be deterred.

The Venezuelan Minister’s official visit is aimed to strengthen multilateral and bilateral relations in different sectors. “It is necessary to say that Turkey and Venezuela will work incessantly to find alternative ways to boost trade relations and carry the cooperation one step further,” Arreaza added.

Other nations such as Russia, China, and Iran have publicly stated their support for Venezuela and criticized the U.S’ interventionist discourse towards the Bolivarian Republic. — NNN-TELESUR
