KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) — The Asian International Arbitration Centre (“AIAC”) proudly announces the successful closing of the 3rd AIAC-ICC Pre-Moot for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (“Pre-Moot”). The Pre-Moot was jointly organised by the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”) and the AIAC from 22nd to 24th of March 2019. The purpose of the Pre-Moot, which is aligned with the AIAC’s purpose, is to foster Alternative Dispute Resolution capacity building in the region. As a curtain-raiser for the Pre-Moot, the ICC Young Arbitrators’ Forum (“YAF”) and AIAC Young Practitioners’ Group (“YPG”) also held a conference on 21st March where experienced practitioners and academics dissected the anatomy of international arbitration, starting from procedure, substance and enforcement. As a prelude to the Pre-Moot, the speakers also shared their views on several issues arising from this year’s Vis Moot Problem.
The AIAC hosted 90 teams with close to 380 participants from 21 countries and 180 hearings with over 200 arbitrators, making it the largest Vis Pre-Moot internationally leading up to the competitions in Hong Kong and Vienna.
