SANTIAGO, April 28 (NNN-Xinhua) — At least one person was killed by storms in Chile, while dozens of others were affected and over 140 houses were damaged, the Interior Ministry’s National Emergency Office confirmed Wednesday.
The death occurred in the southern region of La Araucania, after a tree fell on a power line, which then hit the vehicle with the person inside, the National Emergency Office said in its latest report.
The rains also damaged 143 houses in the Nuble, Biobio and La Araucania regions, all in the central and southern parts of Chile, where precipitation began over the weekend.
There were also road disruptions in six regions due to flooding and fallen trees. — NNN-XINHUA
