Thailand’s Export Hit 30-Year High In March

BANGKOK, Apr 28 (NNN-TNA) – Thailand’s export hit a 30-year high in March, mainly driven by a high demand for gold and electronics, according to data from the commerce ministry.

Thai export value in March accounts for 922 billion Thai Baht (about 28.8 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 19.5 percent year-on-year, which marks the 13th consecutive monthly increase and the second straight month of double-digit growth.

Government spokesperson, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, said yesterday that, Thai Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha was very pleased with the export performance, adding that, the increase demonstrated international confidence in Thailand’s potential, to become a high-income country with sustainable growth in all sectors.

The country’s imports in March rose by 18 percent to 887 billion Thai Baht (about 27.4 billion dollars), resulting in a trade surplus of 35 billion Thai Baht (about 1.5 billion dollars).– NNN-TNA
