HANOI, Apr 27 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam reported 8,431 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, up 1,014 from Monday, according to its Ministry of Health.
The new infections, recorded in 56 provinces and cities, were all domestically transmitted.
The Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, remained the pandemic hotspot with 937 new cases, followed by the northern provinces of Phu Tho with 702, and Quang Ninh with 408.
Also yesterday, Hanoi health authorities reported 40,000 previously detected COVID-19 cases.
The infections brought the total tally to 10,620,203, with 43,029 deaths. Nationwide, 9,116,225 COVID-19 patients, or nearly 86 percent of the infections, have so far recovered.
Approximately 213.1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country, including more than 194.8 million shots on people aged 18 and above, said the ministry.
Vietnam has by far gone through four coronavirus waves of increasing scale, complication, and infectivity. As of yesterday, it registered more than 10.6 million locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, since the start of the current wave in Apr, 2021, said the health ministry.– NNN-VNA
