Iran’s IRGC Vows Avenge Soleimani’s Assassination

TEHRAN, Apr 23 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), vowed to take revenge on the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, former commander of its IRGC Quds Force, Press TV reported yesterday.

“They (Americans) constantly send messages saying they will offer rewards and remove certain sanctions if we give up seeking revenge for Soleimani,” Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the naval unit of the IRGC, was quoted as saying.

“But, this is wishful thinking. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) insists on taking revenge, and that revenge is inevitable,” said Tangsiri.

Those involved in the assassination of Soleimani “will be brought to justice” at a time and place determined by Iran, he noted.

Soleimani and his companions were killed in a U.S. drone strike on a convoy near Baghdad International Airport on Jan. 3, 2020.

Five days later, in a military operation codenamed Operation Martyr Soleimani, the IRGC launched a volley of ballistic missiles against the Ain al-Asad airbase in Iraq’s western province of Anbar.

Iran has called Soleimani’s assassination state terrorism and vowed to put an end to the U.S. military’s presence in the region as its ultimate revenge while urging neighboring Iraq to expel U.S. forces from its soil.
