Iran Summons Afghan Envoy Over Attacks On Diplomatic Missions

TEHRAN, Apr 13 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry, yesterday summoned the Afghan charge d’affaires, to protest against the recent attacks on Iranian diplomatic missions in the neighbouring country.

Iran has “strongly protested against the attacks on the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul and the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Herat,” according to the ministry’s website.

The ministry said, the Afghan government is responsible for ensuring the security of Iran’s diplomatic missions and called for legal action against the attackers.

The Iranian missions in Afghanistan have suspended their consular services for security reasons temporarily, after protestors on Monday attacked the Iranian consulate in Herat, and gathered outside the Iranian Embassy in Kabul over “alleged mistreatment of Afghan immigrants in Iran.”– NNN-IRNA
