US shooting: 2 killed, 5 injured in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, April 11 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Two people were killed and five injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon in the U.S. city of Los Angeles, local authorities said.

The shooting occurred at approximately 4:13 p.m. local time (2013 GMT) at the 12200 block of Blakley Avenue, said the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in an alert. Two male victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old boy and a man about 40 years old died at the scene from gunshot wounds to their upper bodies, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Koerner said. Their names were withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The L.A. County Fire Department says that four people were taken to the hospital, three of them with minor injuries, and a fourth victim in critical condition. They were a man in his 50s and three men in their 40s, he said. A woman in her 40s drove herself to the hospital.

“There is no additional information available at this time,” the department said. It’s unclear what lead to the shooting. No arrests have been made, and a description of the shooter, or shooters were not available. — NNN-AGENCIES
