Peruvian President Pedro Castillo sworn in the new Minister of Health to Jorge Antonio López,

LIMA, April 8 (NNN-Xinhua) — Peruvian President Pedro Castillo appointed Jorge Lopez Pena as the new health minister, making him the third of his administration, after Hernan Condori was censured a week ago by the opposition-led Congress.

“For my family, for my Peru, for quality health for all, without distinction, I swear,” Lopez said during the Thursday ceremony held at the Government Palace in the capital of Lima.

The new minister, who is a surgeon by profession, previously served as vice minister of public health and director of the Regional Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital of Huancayo in the department of Junin.

As the third health minister, Lopez is preceded by Condori, who served for about two months and Hernando Cevallos, who was the first to hold the post.

On March 31, Condori resigned after Congress approved a motion of censure against him calling for his removal. — NNN-XINHUA
