BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Apr 4 (NNN-ANN) – Brunei reported 544 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the national tally to 135,974.
As a country of 420,000 people, Brunei has recorded less than 1,000 new cases for 11 straight days, since Mar 24, since the daily increase during the third wave of the pandemic reached its peak on Mar 3 with 4,885 cases.
As of Apr 2, 61.9 percent of Brunei’s population have received three doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
The Health Ministry said, on the first day of COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 years old that started on Saturday, a total of 981 children or 2.3 percent of children aged 5 to 11 years old in the country have received the first doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
To date, no incidence of adverse side effects among children receiving the vaccines has been reported.
The COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and China’s Sinopharm are administered in Brunei.
Currently, 3,777 active cases are being treated and monitored in Brunei, where 131,984 recoveries have been reported.– NNN-ANN
