Malaysia Reports 17,476 New COVID-19 Infections

KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 2 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Malaysia reported 17,476 new COVID-19 infections, as of midnight, bringing the national total to 4,219,395, according to the health ministry.

There are 164 new imported cases, with 17,312 being local transmissions, data released on the ministry’s website showed.

A further 30 deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 35,013.

The ministry reported 17,321 new recoveries, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 3,977,403.

There are 206,979 active cases, 263 are being held in intensive care units and 162 of those are in need of assisted breathing.

The country reported 35,001 vaccine doses administered yesterday alone, and 84.2 percent of the population have received at least one dose, 79 percent are fully vaccinated and 48.5 percent have received boosters.– NNN-BERNAMA
