Migrants rescued by Tunisia’s national guard during an attempted crossing of the Mediterranean
TUNIS, March 31 (NNN-Xinhua) — Tunisia has foiled four illegal immigration attempts to cross the Mediterranean to the Italian coast, private radio station Shems FM reported.
“Units of the Tunisian Maritime Guard have secured on Tuesday night, a total of 88 illegal immigrants of different African nationalities, off the country’s eastern coast in four illegal immigration attempts,” Shems FM quoted National Guard spokesman Houcemeddine Jbabli as saying.
According to the Tunisian official, these illegal immigrants were handed over to the national guard to complete necessary regulatory procedures. — NNN-XINHUA
