KABUL, Mar 28 (NNN-ANA) – Afghan police have apprehended 37 persons, on the charges of drug smuggling, in the northern Balkh province, the state-run news agency Bakhtar reported, today.
Quoting a senior police officer, Qari Ramadan Zakiri, the news agency said, the arrested men were involved in smuggling and selling illicit drugs, in parts of Balkh province.
All the arrested men have been handed over to related courts for investigation, the news agency further said.
Although farmers in some provinces have cultivated poppy, officials with the Taliban-run administration, say that, the authorities would strictly check drug production and its smuggling, in the war-torn country.–, NNN-ANA
