JAKARTA, Mar 23 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesia, yesterday, confirmed 7,464 new COVID-19 cases, raising its tally of infections to 5,974,646, the Health Ministry said.
According to the ministry, the death toll from COVID-19 in the country rose by 170 to 154,062, while 29,084 more people recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 5,639,029.
Indonesia’s National Agency of Drug and Food Control, approved the use of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine, as a booster or the third dose for people aged over 18, the agency’s head, Penny Lukito, said yesterday.
Currently, Indonesia has six booster vaccines, namely Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen, and Sinopharm.
As the Indonesian government is accelerating its national vaccination programmes, more than 194.90 million people have received their first doses of vaccines, while over 155.39 million have taken the second doses.
Aiming to fully vaccinate 208.26 million people in the country, the government has administered over 367.86 million doses, including the third booster jabs.– NNN-ANTARA
