Kabul Rejects U.S. Commander’s Claim On Daesh Presence In Afghanistan

KABUL, Mar 22 (NNN-ANA) – Afghanistan’s caretaker government, rejected a claim by a U.S. commander, on Daesh presence in the country as baseless, local media reported yesterday.

General Kenneth F. Mckenzie, commander of the U.S. Central Command, reportedly said recently that, the release of “inmates from Pul-e-Charkhi and Bagram prisons” has strengthened Daesh activities in Afghanistan.

Quoting Bilal Karimi, a deputy spokesman for Afghanistan’s Taliban-led administration, Tolonews reported that, “Daesh group has been eliminated in Afghanistan,” thus posing no threat.

Following Taliban’s takeover of Afghansitan in mid-Aug last year, the new administration in Afghanistan set free all detainees, including those held in the notorious Pul-e-Charkhi and Bagram detention centres.– NNN-ANA
