Policemen stand guard in Tunis
TUNIS, March 17 (NNN-Xinhua) — A six-member terrorist cell active in southeastern Tunisia was dismantled, the Tunisian Interior Ministry said.
“The suspects who pledged allegiance to the Daesh organization were planning terrorist attacks by using explosives and toxic products,” said a statement from the ministry.
The terrorist cell was dismantled by the National Guard’s counterterrorism directorate.
An in-depth investigation revealed that the arrested had been recruiting young people from Tataouine Province in southeastern Tunisia and introducing them to the extremist culture.
Tunisia has witnessed terrorist activities since 2011, which killed dozens of security and military agents, civilians and foreign tourists. — NNN-XINHUA
