Indonesia Reports 21,380 Newly-Confirmed COVID-19 Cases, 258 More Deaths

JAKARTA, Mar 8 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesia yesterday confirmed, 21,380 new COVID-19 cases, raising its tally of infections to 5,770,105, the country’s Health Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the death toll from COVID-19 in the country rose by 258 to 150,430, while 48,800 more people recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 5,171,402.

As the Indonesian government is accelerating its national vaccination programmes, more than 192.06 million people have received their first dose of vaccines, while over 148.02 million have taken the second dose.

The Indonesian government announced yesterday that, spectators of the 2022 Motorcycle Grand Prix, in the country’s West Nusa Tenggara province, are not required to take COVID-19 tests, as long as they have been fully vaccinated.

“This is because the vaccination rate in the province has reached 92.5 percent, for the first doses, and 70.6 percent for the second doses,” the country’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said in a press release.– NNN-ANTARA
