Peru: PM confident in Congress’ approval vote of the new administration

LIMA, March 28 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peruvian Prime Minister Salvador del Solar is confident Congress will deliver the confidence vote to the new cabinet under his leadership.

He confirmed that he will attend a Parliament session to present the Government’s general policy to lawmakers on April 4.

“We are confident the Legislative (Branch) will listen to us and make an assessment, and that it will give us its confidence to continue working for the sake of the country,” the cabinet chief expressed.

Likewise, Del Solar indicated the social conflict in Las Bambas would not influence the decision that Congress will make on the expected confidence vote.

“We consider this to be completely independent (…),” he added.

On March 11, Salvador del Solar replaced Cesar Villanueva as the Inca country’s Prime Minister and has up to 30 days to present his guidelines to Parliament.

Joined by his cabinet, he must appear before Congress to get the confidence vote. — NNN-ANDINA
