India’s Core Industries Grow 3.7 Percent In Jan

NEW DELHI, Mar 1 (NNN-PTI) – India’s eight core industries increased 3.7 percent in Jan, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, yesterday.

“The combined index of eight core industries stood at 144.4 in Jan, 2022, which increased by 3.7 percent (provisional) as compared to the Index of Jan, 2021,” a statement issued by the ministry said.

The production of coal, natural gas, refinery products, steel, cement and electricity industries increased in Jan, 2022, over the corresponding period of last year, while crude oil and fertiliser output declined, it said.

Production of the eight core sectors rose by 3.8 percent in Dec, 2021.

According to the ministry, the eight core industries comprise 40.27 percent of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production.– NNN-PTI
