Covid-19: Argentina’s death toll surpasses 126,000; Cuba reports no death for 3 consecutive days

BUENOS AIRES, Feb 27 (NNN-Xinhua) — Argentina’s COVID-19 death toll has surpassed 126,000, with 90 fatalities registered in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health reported.

The country recorded 126,048 deaths so far, and the total number of infections rose to 8,893,568, with 5,595 new cases registered in the past day.

The ministry reported that there are currently 109,452 active cases in the country, and 1,170 patients are hospitalized in intensive care units, with a bed occupation rate of 39.4 percent nationwide.

So far, 93,413,457 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered, according to the Public Vaccination Monitor.

HAVANA: Cuba reported no COVID-19 deaths for the third consecutive day, with the national death toll standing at 8,494, the Ministry of Public Health said.

The country registered 609 new cases in the past day, raising its total caseload to 1,068,757. There are currently 2,568 active cases, one of the lowest figures so far this year.

A total of 9.8 million of Cuba’s 11.2 million residents have been vaccinated against the disease so far, while 5.9 million have received a booster dose.

The vaccination program is carried out with the Cuban-made Abdala, Soberana-02 and Soberana Plus vaccines. — NNN-XINHUA
