Brunei Unveils Legislative Meeting To Discuss Yearly Fiscal Budget

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Feb 25 (NNN-ANN) – Brunei officially unveiled the 18th Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting yesterday, with government budget, development plans, post-pandemic recovery on the table for discussion.

The annual parliamentary session was inaugurated by Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and will focus on the deliberation and approval of the fiscal budget bill for the financial year 2022 to 2023, which will come into effect on Apr 1, 2022.

The Sultan said in his speech that, LegCo is a strategic platform to deliberate on matters for the well-being of the people and country.

He also touched on several matters related to initiatives from the government, for the welfare of the people and country, including the roadmap in the 12th National Development Plan, food security, price monitoring, foreign direct investment projects, as well as, efforts to increase self-sufficiency in agriculture, agri-food, fisheries and livestock sectors.– NNN-ANN
