New Zealand Reports 2,522 New Community Cases Of COVID-19

WELLINGTON, Feb 20 (NNN-AGENCIES) – New Zealand reported 2,522 new community cases of COVID-19 today, said the Ministry of Health, in a statement.

Among the 2,522 new community infections, 1,799 were in the largest city Auckland. The rest of the cases were identified across the nation, including 41 in Northland, 188 in Waikato and 86 in Bay of Plenty, according to the ministry.

In addition, there were 17 new cases detected at the New Zealand border, said the ministry.

There are currently 100 patients in New Zealand hospitals, with no one being treated at the intensive care unit.

New Zealand reported a total of 30,694 confirmed cases of COVID-19, since the beginning of the pandemic.

The country is currently at the highest Red settings, under the COVID-19 Protection Framework. At Red settings, face masks become mandatory in many indoor environments, and gatherings are limited to 100 people.– NNN-AGENCIES
