CHIANG RAI, Thailand, March 26 (NNN-NNT-VNA) — Thailand’s Finance Ministry will host the 23rd ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting (AFMM) under the theme of “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability.”
Natthawut Thammasiri, director of the International Economic Policy Bureau, said the meeting would be organised in Chiang Rai on April 3-5, along with the 5th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM).
The meetings will focus on connectivity, sustainability and immunity.
Under the connectivity agenda, the participants would focus on the integration of payment systems and services, the use of local currencies for product and service payment and investment, transnational electronic money transfers and the use of universal QR codes for payment in Southeast Asia.
A for sustainability, ASEAN member states will support their financial sectors in response to Sustainable Development Goals and to promote access to financial services.
The participants are also expected to discuss cybersecurity and joint efforts to regulate digital assets.
