MUMBAI, Feb 14 (NNN-PTI) – India’s financial capital, Mumbai, will hold the 17th international film festival for documentary, short fiction and animation, from May 29 to June 4, the state-owned Press Information Bureau said, yesterday.
The online entry will open from tomorrow, Feb 15 to Mar 15, and filmmakers, who completed their films between Sept 1, 2019, and Dec 31, 2021, are eligible to participate in the event.
The best documentary of the festival will receive a Golden Conch and 13,272 U.S. dollars in cash award, while other winning films in different categories will also receive handsome cash awards, silver conches, trophies and certificates.
The Mumbai International Film Festival, which is organised by India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is the oldest and largest festival for non-feature films in South Asia.
The event will also feature interactive sessions like workshops, master classes, open forum and B2B (business-to-business) sessions.
The previous 16th film festival, held in 2020, received a record 871 entries from India and abroad.
The grand jury of the last film festival comprised eminent film personalities from France, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Bulgaria, apart from India.– NNN-PTI
