MANILA, Philippines, March 26 (NNN-PNA) – The Philippines and Cambodia have finalised the joint activities that both the Southeast Asian countries plan to implement in the coming months, to boost their defence cooperation, the Philippine defence department said today (Tuesday).
“The meeting facilitated the exchange of views on regional defence and security issues, such as, cyber security, counter-terrorism and violent extremism, and peacekeeping operations, among others,” the Department of National Defence (DND) said.
“The agenda also highlighted matters on the Philippines-Cambodia bilateral defence relations and finalised various engagement activities between both countries’ army, navy, and air force,” the statement read.
Co-chaired by Philippine Defence Undersecretary, Ricardo David and General Neang Phat, Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia, the conference was an offshoot of the 2017 memorandum of understanding (MoU) on defence cooperation between the Philippines and Cambodia.
The second JDCC meeting will be held in Manila next year.– NNN-PNA
