Israel Reports 52,600 New COVID-19 Cases Amid Relaxed Restrictions

JERUSALEM, Feb 8 (NNN-PNA) – Israel’s Ministry of Health, reported 52,600 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total cases to 3,218,391.

The number of deaths from the virus rose to 9,180, with 20 new fatalities, while the number of patients in serious condition in the regime, decreased from 1,263 to 1,235, the ministry said.

The number of active cases decreased to 323,911, down from 335,727 recorded on Sunday, while the daily testing positivity rate decreased to 28.16 percent, down from 28.79 percent, according to the ministry.

Earlier yesterday, much-relaxed new requirements of Israel’s COVID-19 Green Pass system, took effect.

According to the new rules, restaurants, cinemas, hotels, and gyms, among other places, no longer require a green pass upon entry.

A green pass, however, is still needed at venues where there is a significant danger of infection, such as event halls and nightclubs.– NNN-PNA
