PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan, Feb 5 (NNN-ANA) – About 500 poultry farms are operational in Afghanistan’s northern Baghlan province, the state-run news agency Bakhtar reported.
Taj Mohammad Ahmadzai, director of the Agriculture and Livestock Department of the province, was quoted as saying that, more than 20,000 people are working directly and indirectly for the poultry farms, located in the provincial capital, Pul-e-Khumri and other parts of the province.
The province also sells chickens and chicken products to other areas in the country, according to the official.
The official added that, the provincial authorities will do their best to develop the local poultry industry, to create more jobs and help alleviate poverty.– NNN-ANA
