Suspected Drone Strike Kills Five Pro-Government Yemeni Soldiers: Security Source

ADEN, Yemen, March 26 (NNN-SABA) – At least five pro-government Yemeni soldiers were killed, in an air strike launched by an unknown drone in the central province of al-Bayda, a security official said.

“A suspected drone strike bombed a government military post in the Hazmiya district of al-Bayda, killing five soldiers and wounding several others,” the security source said.

The post is located close to an area of armed confrontations with militants of the Houthi group, the source added.

He pointed out that, the same drone resumed bombing and targeted a weapons store in a newly-established camp of the government forces in the district.

Yemen has been mired in a civil war since late 2014, when the Houthi rebels overtook the capital Sanaa and ousted the government of President Abd-Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.

The conflict has caused what the UN calls the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, killing more than 10,000 people, with 14 million Yemenis at the brink of mass starvation.– NNN-SABA
