JAKARTA, Feb 3 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesia, yesterday confirmed 17,895 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total tally of infections to 4,387,286, the country’s Health Ministry, said.
The ministry’s senior official, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said yesterday that, the total number of confirmed cases with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the country has increased to 2,980.
According to the ministry, the death toll from COVID-19 in the country rose by 25 to 144,373, while the total number of people having recovered from the disease reached 4,148,804, including 5,110 new recoveries recorded during the past 24 hours.
As the government is accelerating its national vaccination programmes, to curb the spread of the virus, more than 185.23 million people in the country have received their first dose, and over 128.73 million have taken their second dose.
Indonesia started mass COVID-19 vaccinations in Jan last year, after the authorities approved the emergency use of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine.
Aiming to fully vaccinate 208.2 million people in the country, the government has administered over 318.50 million doses, including the third booster jabs.– NNN-ANTARA
