Bangladesh’s Exports Surge Over 30 Percent In July-Jan 2021-22 Fiscal Year

DHAKA, Feb 3 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh’s total exports in the first seven months of the current 2021-22 fiscal year (July 2021-Jan 2022), reached nearly 30 billion U.S. dollars, up 30.34 percent year on year, showed official data, released yesterday.

The increase was attributed to good performance in the ready-made garment sector.

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data, posted on its website, showed that, Bangladesh earned 29,548.92 million dollars from exports in the July-Jan period, compared to 22,670.24 million dollars a year earlier.

Of the total earnings, those from ready-made knitwear and woven garment items, surged 30.3 percent to about 24 billion dollars, during the cited period.

In the first seven months of the current 2021-22 fiscal year, the knitwear garment export rose 32.89 percent, year on year, to 13.27 billion dollars, and the woven garment export, registered an increase of 27.23 percent to 10.71 billion dollars.

With hefty growth in garment exports, Bangladesh shipped goods worth 4.85 billion dollars in Jan, an increase of 41.13 percent, year on year.

Bangladesh set its export goal for the 2021-22 fiscal year at 43.50 billion dollars, including 35.14 billion dollars from ready-made garment products, which usually account for about 85 percent of the national shipment in a year.– NNN-BSS
