Vietnam Reports 14,929 New COVID-19 Cases, 2,218,137 In Total

HANOI, Jan 29 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam reported 14,929 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, including 14,892 locally transmitted and 37 imported, according to its Ministry of Health.

The Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, remained the highest number of infections yesterday, with 2,885 cases, followed by northern Bac Ninh province with 1,013 cases and central Da Nang city with 886 cases.

The infections brought the country’s total tally to 2,218,137, with 37,432 deaths. Nationwide, 1,950,244 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered.

Some 180.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including 27.3 million third shots, have been administered, according to the ministry.

Vietnam has by far gone through four coronavirus waves of increasing scale, complication, and infectivity.

As of yesterday, the country has registered over 2.2 million locally transmitted COVID-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late Apr last year, said the ministry.– NNN-VNA
