UNITED NATIONS, Jan 24 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Amina Mohmmed, the deputy United Nations Secretary-General has reacted to the gruesome murder of a five-year-old school girl by her teacher.
The top diplomat has joined the calls for justice to be served saying she was outraged and deeply saddened by the death of Hanifa Abubakar.
“Outraged and deeply saddened by the senseless death of Hanifa Abubakar. Justice must be done for Hanifa and all girls who suffer these atrocities. Our hearts and prayers are with her family—may she rest in peace,” she tweeted over the weekend.
The decomposing body of Hanifa was found buried in a school compound triggering outrage across Africa’s most populous nation.
Locals reports say her death was the case of kidnapping gone bad after, Abdulmalik Mohammed Tanko, proprietor of Hanifa’s school kidnapped her and received a ransom but went ahead to execute her “after realising she had recognised him”..
Two other accomplices are being held by the police. — NNN-AGENCIES
