Oil Pipeline In South-Eastern Turkey Exploded, Settlements In Danger

ANKARA, Jan 20 (NNN-ANADOLU) – An oil pipeline in Turkey’s south-eastern city of Kahramanmaras exploded, on Tuesday evening, blocking highway transportation and posing a danger to the settlements nearby.

The cause of the pipeline explosion in the Narli neighbourhood of Pazarcik district, is not known yet.

The highway between the cities of Kahramanmaras and Gaziantep was closed to traffic, after fire caused by the explosion spread to the road, it added.

“According to the first information we received, the fire is expected to continue until the morning,” Ibrahim Yilmazcan, mayor of Pazarcik, a town in the southern part of Kahramanmaras Province, said.

Weather conditions cause difficulty in firefighting work, he noted.

No casualties are reported yet, Kahramanmaras Governor, Omer Faruk Coskun, said in a statement.– NNN-ANADOLU
