NEW DELHI, Jan 16 (NNN-PTI) – Seven people died, allegedly after consuming poisonous liquor, in India’s eastern state of Bihar, a district administration official said over the phone yesterday.
The deaths took place in Bihar’s Nalanda district.
“We have learnt that, while one of them died of a heart attack, another died of a paralytic attack. As of now we can’t confirm that all the deaths took place due to consumption of poisonous liquor,” Nalanda Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kumar Anurag, said.
“Dead bodies of all the seven deceased have been sent for post mortem, and subsequently the real cause of deaths would be known from their Viscera reports,” said the SDM.
Bihar is a dry state with sale and consumption of liquor banned for many years. However, it is found that illegal liquor from neighbouring states is easily available in the state.– NNN-PTI
