NEW DELHI, Jan 13 (NNN-PTI) – India’s retail inflation rose to 5.59 percent in Dec last year, data released by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation showed, yesterday.
The figure, based on the Consumer Price Index, was 4.91 percent in the previous month. The food inflation also surged to 4.05 percent in Dec, 2021, from 1.87 percent in Nov, 2021.
The rise in inflation is reportedly attributed to a sharp increase in the price of food items.
Meanwhile, India’s factory activity growth, determined by the Index of Industrial Production, fell 1.4 percent on a year-on-year basis for Nov last year, but grew 3.2 percent compared with the previous month, the data showed.– NNN-PTI
