BEIRUT, Jan 12 (NNN-NNA) – A Lebanese judge, yesterday issued a travel ban, against Central Bank Governor, Riad Salameh, over a lawsuit accusing him of financial misconduct, Elnashra local news website reported.
The travel ban against Salameh was on the grounds of “judicial requirements, in light of the important clues and evidence in the preliminary investigation file, especially the lawsuit filed by the legal department of the People Want the Reform of the Regime group,” read the order by Judge Ghada Aoun.
Salameh is among top Lebanese officials to be blamed, for the unprecedented financial crisis in Lebanon.
The governor has been the target of a series of judicial lawsuits, at home and abroad, involving money laundering, illicit enrichment and other charges.
Salameh has repeatedly denied the charges.– NNN-NNA
