CAIRO, Jan 11 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, and Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was held yesterday, on the sidelines of the 4th edition of the World Youth Forum, held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, the Egyptian Presidency said, in a statement.
During the meeting, President Sisi expressed full support to Prime Minister Mikati, to succeed in running the Lebanese government, so as to fulfil the aspirations of the Lebanese people, and help introduce the necessary reforms to overcome the critical phase that Lebanon is going through.
For his part, Prime Minister Mikati valued the special relations between the two countries and expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt, as a cornerstone that supports and maintains stability in Lebanon and the Arab region.
He lauded Egypt’s inspiring experience that reinforces the priorities of successful development and is considered a model to be followed by the region’s countries.
The meeting also touched on the possibility of benefiting from Egypt’s expertise in a number of fields, such as electricity, infrastructure and energy projects.
Mikati, Jordanian Crown Prince, Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas and the youth representing 196 countries attended the four-day forum, which runs until Thursday.– NNN-MENA
