KABUL, Jan 9 (NNN-ANA) – India offered medical supplies to Afghanistan, to help improve basic health services for Afghans, chief spokesman of the Afghan caretaker government said, yesterday.
In continuation of India’s assistance to Afghanistan, a six-tonne India-aided medicine and medical supplies shipment, arrived in the Afghan capital, Kabul on Friday, spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, wrote on Twitter.
According to the spokesperson, the country has also received 500,000 doses of India-aided COVID-19 vaccines, along with a batch of medical items, a couple of days ago.
The security situation in Afghanistan has remained generally calm, since the Taliban’s takeover of power in mid-Aug last year. However, uncertainty remains as the country’s economic situation has worsened, with a higher unemployment rate and rising poverty.
The UN agencies, aid organisations and a number of countries, are racing against time to deliver life-saving aid and supplies to crisis-hit Afghans during the winter.– NNN-ANA
