CARACAS, March 23 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Venezuelan justice continues on Friday a legal proceeding against Roberto Marrero Rojas, linked to opposition legislator Juan Guaido, for violating the constitutional order as well as promoting terrorism and violence.
According to a statement issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP), the arrest on Thursday of the member of the Voluntad Popular (Popular Will) party responded to an order by the First Special Court of First Instance in Control Functions with National Jurisdiction.
Marrero Rojas is being investigated for alleged links to crimes involving the violation of the constitutional order and the promotion of terrorism and violence, including the attempt to assassinate President Nicolas Maduro, the text said.
Nestor Reverol, Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, said Marrero was part of a terrorist cell that planned a series of selective attacks.
‘The group’s plan would endanger the life of political leaders, militaries, judges of the Supreme Court of Justice, and carry out acts of sabotage to public services to create chaos in the society,’ Reverol denounced at a press briefing on Thursday.
According to the MP statement, the arrest was made in the presence of prosecutors of the entity and other witnesses. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
