AMMAN, Jordan, March 23 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan said, the Golan Heights is an occupied Syrian territory, in line with all international resolutions.
Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, made the remarks after the announcement made by U.S. President Donald Trump about Golan Heights.
Trump said that, it is time for the United States to recognise Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, which it seized from Syria in 1967.
“Lasting and comprehensive peace requires Israel’s withdrawal from all occupied Arab territories, and the Golan Heights is part of these occupied lands,” Safadi said.
He said that the UN resolution 497 for 1981 rejects Israel’s decision to annex the Golan Heights.
The minister stressed the need that, the international community should abide by the international legitimacy resolutions in this regard.– NNN-PETRA
