MANILA, Dec 23 (NNN-PNA) – Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the son of former Philippine President, Ferdinand Marcos, led a presidential preference survey, a poll result showed.

An independent national survey by Pulse Asia on Dec 1-6, showed that 53 percent of 2,400 respondents, Filipinos aged 18 and above, expressed support for the 64-year-old former lawmaker, for the May, 2022 elections.

The survey said Marcos, who lost the vice presidency in 2016 to Leonor Robredo, was the top-rated contender in all major regions.

The majority in Metro Manila (61 percent), the rest of Luzon (51 percent), and Mindanao (64 percent), would vote for Marcos, if the May, 2022 elections were held during the survey period, the poll suggested.

Marcos, nicknamed Bongbong, is the standard-bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, a three-year-old political party. His running mate, vying for vice president is Sara Duterte-Carpio, Davao City’s mayor and President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter.

According to the survey, Carpio is the favoured candidate for vice president with 45 percent. Senate President, Vicente Sotto came second with 31 percent, followed by Senator Francis Pangilinan with 12 percent.– NNN-PNA
