JAKARTA, Dec 15 (NNN-ANTARA) – The Asian Development Bank (ADB), approved a yield-based loan of 600 million U.S. dollars, to help Indonesia’s State Electricity Company (PLN), improve electricity services in the western and central parts of Java, an ADB specialist said.
The loan will be used for the Sustainable and Reliable Energy Access Programme, which will strengthen and expand the PLN’s electricity network, as well as, encourage the use of clean energy, the ADB’s Senior Finance Specialist, Daniel Miller, was quoted as saying.
He pointed out that the loan, under a guarantee from the Indonesian government, would improve the PLN’s transmission lines, power grid automation, and hazardous waste storage facilities.
In addition, Miller said, the programme will accelerate economic recovery in Java, by providing support for agro-industry, tourism as well as micro and small enterprises (MSEs).
The ADB’s country partnership for Indonesia in the 2020-2024 period, focuses on enhancing the archipelago’s economic recovery, through sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure.– NNN-ANTARA
